Sonia Kashuk: Golden Sands

Holy Moly. Am I doing nail polish swatches/reviews on this blog now? Yes, self, I am. Get over it.

I found Sonia Kashuk's "Golden Sands" nail polish while aimlessly wandering the isles of Target, which is what you do when you live in the suburbs of Orange County, my friends. I really wanted to find a muted, sophisticated pumpkin spice-y* fall nail polish. Apparently, the brands at target only feel like bright oranges, orange reds, straight up poop browns are "in" right now. Anyway, I fell into the Sonia Kashuk corner and saw this baby:

"Golden Sands" is a darker nude with some gold shimmer action. Not at all what I was looking for, but I'm a subtle nail polish kind of gal, and this one is slightly holiday-fied, so I figured what the hell. Plus, if I remember correctly, it was less than $5.

I've never used Sonia Kashuk nail polish before. Hell, this was my first Sonia Kashuk anything I've ever purchased, but I was pretty happy with the results. The nail polish went on a little goopy in the end, but I don't know how much of that has to do with the nail polish itself, or my own clumsy application technique. I'm wearing two coats of "Golden Sands" for this swatch. You can see the gold shimmer in the sunlight quite well, but under normal lighting conditions, it looks like a good go-to neutral.

Overall, I give it 4 Pennies.**

*I've decided to tack "pumpkin spice" onto as many things as I can. I'm riding this trend right into the sun.

**WTF is a "Penny"? Well, "Penny" is my perfect dog, therefore she's the gold standard to which I measure everything. My ranking system is a 5 Penny system, and "5 Pennies" is perfect.
